Is bingo REALLY cool or is it still for the blue rinse brigade?
OK, so bingo is getting increasingly mainstream. Pink websites are being spawned like Gremlins in water and celebs are cashing in on advertising campaigns to tell us that bingo is cool and we’re all doing it.
But Mr Reeves (new face of 888 Ladies bingo) , are we really? Nice tights by the way…
The thing is, I’m all up for having a go at what’s hot, but I don’t know anyone who actually goes to play bingo apart from my Gran. Actually, that’s a lie. My best mate Jackie likes playing bingo, but she also gets up on stage at karaoke bars, on her own, singing Take That medleys.The last time I played bingo was at school, when we were forced to go to a local old peoples home and play with them. It was like a care in the community type thing and I remember feeling guilty, winning chocolates off pensioners. Maybe I’m scarred.The thing is, it’s going to have to be a very tasty proposition to tear me away from the match with the lads (Stella in hand) and into a bingo hall.
But the stakes have been raised these days, with huge lump sums of lovely cash being promised. I’d like to know does anyone ever win this, or is it just a myth? ‘Cause a few hundred grand could actually clinch it!
