Weird Wagers (Part 2) - Fun stuff
The second installment of weird wagers looks at the sillier side of betting…
No 1: In 2002, Ian McMillan (38) Devon put a bet on an Elvis, Lucan and Shergar wimbledon final. Sadly, his bet didn’t come off.
No 2: Back in the 1990s, Willam Hill took bets that the world would end at 12.50pm on 11th August 1999 at odds of 1,000,000/1. Bit tricky to celebrate winning that one…
No 3: Back in 1983 the Dallas Morning News used a gorilla to predict outcomes of the American football games. (Only in America!)
No 4: In 2006, Arsenal’s Champions League final victory against Villarreal, saw a squirrel join players on the pitch, disrupting the game for several minutes. Blue Square put odds on the squirrel returning for the next match against Spurs at 25/1, getting over 65 bets. Three customers even bet 5000/1 that the squirrel would score!
No 5: Always got an opinion on other people’s lives? How about betting on these newly-wedded weirdos who have put their mug shots on the internet so you can predict when they will get divorced. http://weddingbetting.com
Now let’s end with an ‘on topic’ joke…
A husband and wife were sharing a bottle of wine when the husband said, “I bet you can’t tell me something which will make me happy and sad at the same time.”
The wife thought for a few moments, then said, “Your penis is bigger than your brother’s.”
